Noelle's Smile

Doesn't it just melt your heart? She isn't to the point where she's smiling all of the time, but she'll generally have a couple of times a day where you can spend a few minutes making faces at her that will make her smile and laugh. It's so adorable! She really thinks it's funny when you stick out your tongue.

Anyway, last night when she woke up to eat at 5:30 am, she was much more awake than normal. I usually don't even see her eyes open. But last night she just looked at me and smiled and giggled. I proceeded to tell her that it's much too early in the morning to be laughing! All of my baby books say that if you are wanting them to go back to sleep that you shouldn't really talk or interact with them, but last night I couldn't resist. I knew that I might end up having to wake up with her for the day at 5:30, but it was just so sweet to rock her and giggle with her. She did end up going back to sleep, but even if she didn't it would have been worth it for that cute little smile.

Church with a Baby

This is the outfit Noelle went to church in yesterday...it came from our friends in Germany. She looks so adorable in it!





I knew that going to church was going to change a lot when we had a baby, but there were things I just wasn't expecting! I thought my worst fear would be the screaming baby. But no...I came to realize that it would be the very loud toot/dirty diaper. When we first brought her home from the hospital, I was so shocked at how loud Noelle could be when generating a dirty diaper. I mean, we could her it in the other room!

Well, this Sunday, Noelle proceeded to make 3 very loud diapers during our time at church. Two happened during Sunday School, about 10 minutes apart. Normally, I would think the smaller setting would make it easier to laugh it off. But this was the very first Sunday for this class, and you hate to make things even more awkward for the teacher. The third dirty diaper happened during night church. Thankfully we were only sitting next to one other couple (who has a young child, too). The dad did turn around and snicker! :-)

I thought I would be sad when it comes time to put Noelle in the nursery, but I think I am going to be relieved!

Another note that is church related: This morning I was reading the scripture Isaiah 66:1-2. I don't know if it was sleep deprivation or the print in my Bible being small, but I thought it said, "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my football." I think I really need a nap! :-)

Where's Noelle?

This picture is for her daddy, Baba & Ted. I bought this outfit before Noelle was born and gave it to Chris at the hospital. Although it isn't girly at all, it does camouflage all sorts of stuff. :-) It was actually cool enough yesterday for her to wear long-sleeves for part of the day.

Noelle's checkup went really well today. It never fails that when we go to the doctor she goes #1, #2, and spits up all over her clothes and changing table right before we walk out the door. So we were a little late this morning.

Anyway, she now weighs 11 pounds and is 23 inches long. She also got 3 shots and an oral vaccine. She cried pretty loud for just a minute and then once I gave her a pacifier she calmed down. (Thank goodness for the paci!)

She hasn't seemed to have any bad reaction from the shots. She's really just slept most of the day. That has been very nice because it allowed me to get in an extra long nap this afternoon. I figured I should make a point to sleep then incase she is fussy in the night! I hope the extra sleep won't make her mix up her nights and days.

2 Months Old!!

Noelle is 2 months old today and is starting to smile more at us every day. It's still hard to catch it on film, though. She's getting so much bigger, and I'm curious to find out how much she weighs now. She has her next checkup on Wednesday and will get her first round of shots. I know that shots are normally harder on the mom than the baby, and I'm not looking forward to that part!


She got to watch her first A&M football game on Saturday. Luckily she slept through most of it and didn't see how poorly they played. :-) The A&M shirt she's wearing in this picture used to be mine when I was little. Aren't the bloomers cute?

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

This is one of my very favorite outfits of Noelle's! The hat's a little big, but she'll grow into it soon. :-) Tomorrow I'm sure she'll be wearing one of Chris' favorites in honor of watching her first A&M football game on TV. We'll be sure to post pictures of that, too!

How did my boogie get there?

The following information is crucial for all parents of young children. Sarah and I recently glanced over the discharge papers given to us at the hospital after Noelle was born and saw this: "Never leave your baby unattended or with pets." I suppose that means pets do not meet the requirements for adequate supervision. Sarah and I will be looking for a new babysitter.

Nap time

I guess it's a good thing that we changed to the breathable mesh bumper pad! Noelle thanks her grandma for giving it to her! :-)

Bad Hair Day

Noelle is 7 weeks old today. She's having a bad hair day, and apparently that upsets her.

It's been so fun to watch her grow. At her last weight check she was 9 pounds, 14 ounces. That means she's gaining nearly an ounce a day! Lately she has been awake a lot more during the day. (Unfortunately much of her awake time today was spent crying.)

Here are some new things she has done recently:

• She is using her hands more and swatting at things.
• She is looking around more and can follow objects with her eyes.
• She is more expressive, and is starting to smile at us.
• She will sometimes copy us when we make a face or stick out our tongue at her.
• Her most surprising accomplishment of the day was turning over from her back to her tummy. We put her down for a nap and a few minutes later when we checked on her, she had rolled over.
• She also attended her first wedding this weekend. When we arrived and realized that we were the only parents daring enough to bring an infant to a wedding, we got a little nervous. Thankfully, Noelle bailed us out and slept through the whole thing.
