Ungratefulness

Noelle:  What's for breakfast today?

Sarah:  How about pancakes?

Noelle (disappointed):  Oh, I was wanting cinnamon rolls.

Sarah:  It's pancakes or cereal.

*** long pause ***

Noelle:  That's a hard choice.

Chris:  I think you should have pancakes.  Mommy got up early to make a nice breakfast for you.  I would choose pancakes.

*** short pause ***

Noelle:  I'll take cereal.

Vanity Continued

Before bed, Noelle looks at herself in the mirror and says, "I still have curls in my hair.  I'm still pretty."

Vanity

"I can't stop looking at my hair, Dad.  It's so cute!"

Another Noelle-ism

"Mommy, I like how your shirt has sparkles on it!!"  She examines it closer.  "Oh.  Nevermind. That's lint."

Future Zookeeper

Chris, Noelle, & Jared are walking in the Target parking lot and pass a small pot hole.

Noelle:  "Look!  That's an elephant footprint!  An elephant was here....I'm scared of elephants.

I should have judged the book by it's cover

This next week, Noelle and I are learning about insects.  (Eww.)  Anyway, I went on Saturday and picked up some books from the library.  At the library, my goal is to get in and get out before either kid has a meltdown.  Since I'm not in there long, I generally get a stack-full of books and go through them later for age-appropriateness, content, etc.  I saw one called "Bugs in my Hair."  I thought to myself, "Oh, that sounds like a funny, cute book."

Noelle asked Chris to read it to her today, and he asks me, "Do you know this book is about lice?"

Nice.

I guess if I looked closer at it I would have realized...or at least if I had glanced at the "Note to Parents" page.

We didn't read it to her, but Noelle is now really curious about why we didn't.  Knowing her, she would be horrified by the prospect of lice and wouldn't let the subject go for about 4 years.

Tricky

This morning I told Noelle she needed to eat 4 more bites of her cereal before she could be done.  (Which, by the way, I swore as a parent I would never do that.)  Anyway.  She starts eating and says, "I'm counting in my mind."  Then, she says, "I'm going to trick you and eat 6 more bites!!"

Jared's 1st Birthday Party

Between Christmas and Jared's birthday, we had plenty of celebrating last week.  We had a small family birthday party for Jared last Thursday, complete with pizza rolls and cake.

I made the kids their own "allergy free" pizza rolls.  Unfortunately, Jared wasn't much of a fan.

He wasn't too much of a fan of the cake, either.  He gagged a couple of times.  It was pretty funny:
