Big Girl Room...aka The Paint Room

We recently moved Noelle from her nursery to her "big girl room." It was quite an event! Her nursery was right off of the living room, and we thought she would sleep better being a little farther away from all of the noise in there. Another reason for the move is that she has now officially outgrown her pack 'n play, so we needed for her to get used to sleeping in a regular bed for when we go out of town.

The room she moved into required a TON of work. The top half of the wall had wallpaper and the bottom half was painted and had texture. Long story short...we ended up taking off all the wall paper, sanding the bottom half of the wall, we had the whole thing textured (luckily not by us), and then we had to prime and paint it. Of course there were a few "roadblocks" to the project, but that's the gist.

I was so pleased by the results, and Noelle ABSOLUTELY LOVES her room. She calls it her "paint room" because it seemed like we were in there painting for so long. The video here shows her first reaction to the "big reveal." She had seen a little of the painting, etc. (Which is why in the video she asks if the paint is dry and if she can touch it...we had told her "no" so many times before that.) But she hadn't seen the furniture, posters, or anything until the video. It's not super exciting, but it gives you an idea of what her room looks like now.

She's also done a super job transitioning to her big girl bed. I was very anxious about that. I was afraid she'd either get out of bed on her own in the middle of the night, or that she'd fall out of bed when she slept. So far, after a week and a half, she has done neither. (We do have a rail set up on one side now, it's just not "cute" so it's not in the video.) Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics of the "paint room."

Dinner Conversation

Here was our dinner conversation tonight:

Chris: "If you eat your green beans, then you'll get watermelon."

Noelle: Proceeds to put her head in her hands like you had just delivered the worst news in the world.

Chris: Repeats the instruction (bribe) again and asked, "Do you understand?"

Noelle: She looks at him matter of factly and says, "Of course I do!"

We both lost it laughing and so then she added "of course" to the beginning of every sentence for a while.

A Sticky Situation

I never really had much doubt that Noelle can't read yet (she's only two), but after a conversation with her yesterday, I'm certain that she can't read.

She brought this to me and said, "Daddy, are these eye drops?"

Noah's Ark...The girl version

Yesterday when I was getting ready, Noelle was playing in a drawer that has make-up samples in it. (I usually let her do this to keep her occupied for 10 minutes or so.) Anyway, she gets two lipsticks out of the drawer and carries them around quoting her Noah's ark book, "Two by two...two by two." I'm pretty sure that's not really what God had in mind when he told Noah to bring two of every kind onto the ark.

Road trip to Athens

We've had lots of posts and pictures about the potty lately because that's pretty much what our lives have revolved around this past month. Here's one last potty quote from Noelle, and then we'll move on to something less inappropriate.

"The toilet paper is watching me."

Chris had a couple of days off this week, so we decided to take a trip to Athens to visit his grandparents. It is such a blessing to get to see everyone on one trip. They only live 2 blocks from each other! Noelle had a great time and was already asking to go back to see them before we made it home today.

Thanks for letting us come and visit. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Potty Humor

Here's another potty training quote from Noelle. She's going to kill us in a few years.

"Daddy, I went poo-poo in my panties, but it was a very very accident."

Potty Training

***Disclaimer*** The following post contains both pictures of and conversation about the potty. If this bothers you, then stop reading now.

We've recently learned what a joyful experience it is to have a rather verbal child when potty training. The following are quotes from Noelle over the past several weeks:
  • There's tee-tees in there.
  • Bye bye poo-poo. See you later.

  • They're going in the tunnel.

  • I did some toots.

  • My panties are stuck! My panties are stuck!...I fix them. (Translation: I have a wedgie!)

  • Oh. That was a big one!

Here are some pictures of Noelle getting her first pair of big girl panties. She is quite proud of them.
