Just before bed tonight

Noelle: "Daddy, remember when I was two and there was a lizard by my potty?"

Chris: "Yes."

Noelle: "Why was he there?"

Chris: "I don't know. Sometimes we just see lizards."

Noelle: "Maybe the lizard wanted to sniff my potty."

Christmas is here, but Jared is not

As overheard by Chris

Noelle: "Mommy, do you want to go to the park with me?"

Sarah: "Sure."

**Sarah and Noelle play in the pretend park in the living room for a few minutes**

Noelle: "Where are you going?"

Sarah: "I have to go to the bathroom."

Noelle: "There's no potty at this park."

Sarah: "Well, I'm going to walk until I find one."

Sonogram 11-23

This is a picture of Jared from yesterday. He is looking straight at you with his left arm covering his mouth. He is now 5 pounds, 1 ounce and is 17 inches long. The white, spikey stuff around the arrows is his hair!

MDO Fall Party

Noelle had a party at her Mother's Day Out at the end of October. At first she did not want to participate in the singing, but Sarah was able to bribe her to sing by letting her hold her Banana Dog. Hopefully she will be in a better mood for the Christmas program.

This is Noelle's class singing "You Can't Get to Heaven on a Pogo Stick."

Away in a Manger

In case you were wondering, yes, Noelle did dress herself.

Quaker Oats

Noelle: "No more boogies!"

Sarah: "Wait!? Is that what you just handed me?"

Noelle: "Yes."

Sarah: "Oh. I thought you handed me a piece of oatmeal. Next time get a Kleenex."

Sonogram # I don't remember

Sarah had another sonogram today, and all is well. We should have an update on his weight and measurements next week. We go once a week until Jared arrives from here on out.

Yes, it's just like that

Tonight as we were doing our family Bible study, we reviewed Noelle's memory verse for AWANA. This week's verse is "evening, morning, and at noon I cry out." (Psalm 55:17) I explained to Noelle that cry out was not like crying when you are sad. It was just another word for "pray, call out, ask God for help" etc. Her response to that was, "so, like when you're by yourself at the zoo and you see a big alligator and you're scared you cry out..."

A Sign Your Kid is in MDO or School

Noelle was "reading" to us & I was holding a stuffed animal for her. She stops reading and says, "You're playing with the koala bear. I'm going to have to hold him until I'm done reading and then you can have him back."

Then on another occasion, Noelle pretends to read to us from the back seat of the car.

N: OK. Everybody be quiet while I read. "When we're scared, we can ask God to help us."
S: That's right!
N: Did I hear someone talking in the front seat??

Do you have the time?

Starting in college I (Sarah) stopped wearing a watch. I know that to some of you, that probably stresses you out knowing that someone would actually go without a watch on purpose. :-) But, I really enjoy it! Anyway, Chris still wears one, and Noelle & Chris have a fun game they play where she takes off his watch and Chris tickles her.

Well, today, Noelle found an old watch in a drawer, put it on, and here was our following conversation:

N: "Now I'm a daddy because I have a watch!"
S: "Oh, really? Do mommies ever wear watches?"
N: "Sometimes. Some kinds of moms do and some moms don't."
S: "What about me?"
N: "No."
S: "What kind of mom am I since I don't wear a watch?"
N: "Just a plain mom."

I never found out what kind of mom actually wears a watch. :-)

Baby Update

Tuesday we had another sonogram appointment, and everything is continuing to look great! Jared is actually measuring a little bit big. Most measurements were a week or two ahead of my due date. The doctor estimates that he's already 4 pounds, and he looks like he'll be about 8 pounds by the time he's born. He also is about 15 or 16 inches long. The neatest thing for me was that they were already able to see his hair! Looks like he'll take after his sister. :-)

Here's a picture of his face. Even though it's not one of the new 4D sonograms, I'm amazed at how well you can see him. So neat!! The second picture was actually taken a couple of weeks ago, but you can see his mouth opened.

She's not talking about trains...

Recently, Noelle has started to say things like, "my tummy is saying, 'feed me! feed me!'" to let us know that she is hungry.

We always thought it was cute, but today things took a little turn when she said, "I have to go to the potty because my bottom is saying, 'toot! toot!'"

More Kryptonite

We had been told by our pediatrician that once Noelle turned 3 we could introduce peanuts to her, so we decided that today was the day. At lunch she ate about a teaspoon of peanut butter and things quickly turned south. Immediately she said, "my tongue hurts" and began coughing a lot. Those were good signs that something wasn't right, but we knew for sure there was a problem when her lips began to swell, her ears turned red, and her face became splotchy. She wasn't as bad as Hitch, but there was definitely some concern.

We gave her some Benadryl, and then she began throwing up (a LOT) a few minutes later. We were able to get her in to the doctor pretty quickly, and he prescribed her some steroids. We're also now the proud owners of an EpiPen, though the doctor doesn't think we'll ever have to use it. Many people have much more severe reactions to peanuts than Noelle did. Even though her reaction sounds bad, we're very thankful that it's not worse than it was.
