Our Plans for the Weekend....

BABY PROOFING! We've put it off for a long time, but Noelle is starting to crawl and is interested in everything we don't want her to get. She's pretty slow right now and mainly scoots around on her belly. She isn't too motivated to crawl after toys, but she will crawl for her comb, tennis shoes, the dog's toy, and the remote control. So far these are her favorite "no-no's". She's also sitting up on her own. I went into her room the other day and found her like this:
We promptly lowered her mattress! The bad thing is she can't always figure out how to lie back down, which means she can't fall asleep unless we help her. Not so fun in the middle of the night!

I also finished another cake decorating class. In this one we learned how to make stacked cakes and some fancier flowers. Here was the cake I made on the last day. I had a ton of fun. I'm taking a break for a few months but will probably take another class this summer.

Other than that, there's not much else going on around here.

Would You Rather

If you woke up tomorrow and had to choose, would you rather grow a little bit taller every day for the rest of your life or shrink a little bit every day for the rest of your life?

Lesson Learned

Sometimes we have to make mistakes in order to learn, and I have found that this is especially true with parenting. Well, Chris and I learned a lesson last night: Don't go into Noelle's room after she's asleep!

We watched a movie that had an unexpectedly sad ending (urg!!!) and I decided I would peek in on sleeping Noelle to lift my spirits before I went to bed. When I walked in, Noelle was sprawled out and it was so funny I started laughing to myself. Just then Chris peeked in, too, and when we made eye contact we couldn't help but bust out laughing. You know how it is when you know you should be quiet but you can't keep from laughing and so that makes it worse? That was us. So, Noelle stirs in her bed and moves to another funny position and we laugh again. This time she's on the verge of waking up so we drop to the floor so that Noelle won't see us. I felt like a criminal hiding from the police. Anyway, despite our stealthy moves, she ends up waking up and is MAD. (Who could blame her?) She wasn't just doing her normal kinda fussy cry...we were into the strangled ostrich cry. I felt so horrible! I woke up my own baby because I was laughing. But it was because she's so cute! That's OK, right? :-)

Just for the record...

I would have NEVER slept on that mattress! It's bad enough when you see the investigations when they see all sorts of stuff with their black lights. When you can actually see the stains without using fancy equipment, that's when you know it's time to sleep in your car. To Chris' defense, he and his friend did some research beforehand and the hotel got a 3 1/2 star rating. Excuse me??

Sweet Sixteen!!

The Aggies won this weekend and are headed to the Sweet Sixteen. I think that it's all because they had the cutest cheerleader in the whole world!

Updates

It's been a while since we've blogged...mainly because there's not a lot going on here worth blogging about! Here are the most interesting things going on, but to say they are interesting may be stretching it a bit.

A couple of weeks ago, we went to College Station to see A&M play against Missouri. We had a really fun weekend away. It was our first time to leave Noelle overnight, which was hard to do, but we had a great time. She stayed with Chris' parents & they had a wonderful time, too! While we were in Aggieland, we walked around campus and visited all of our favorite places. We also ate at our favorite restaurants. I had such a fun time shopping for Aggie clothes for Noelle. (They're hard to come by in Abilene.) We took the picture of us under the Century Tree, which is a common place for Aggies to get engaged. The next picture is of the A&M senior basketball players. Next subject...Noelle has ear infection #2. This time it is the left ear. Considering the fact that she's sick, she's still been pretty happy most of the time. She was up most of Saturday night, but didn't have fever or anything, so we went ahead and went to church on Sunday because we both had nursery duty. Noelle was pretty good until we left to go to the worship service. Then she got fussy & I couldn't calm her down. The rest of the afternoon she had a fever. Poor thing.

I made my first cake for someone last week. So I guess I'm officially in business! It was for a western themed baby shower at Chris' work. I had lots of fun making it, but I really underestimated how much time it would take to make it. The decorating didn't take too long, but it took a long time to bake the cake since I did it in portions because my oven is small. The second cake pictured is one I did for my class...we learned how to make roses out of frosting!

Also, Chris is home from work on Spring Break this week. Yea! I'll be spending time with my mom learning more about sewing. We have to finish the projects we started when she was here a couple of weeks ago. Chris will be watching all the NCAA action, rooting on the Aggies!

One last random note...I'm not a big fan of Daylight Savings Time. It seems to mess me up for a week. Chris thinks I make it up, but I feel like a zombie when I wake up. (Well, I normally feel like a zombie, but it's worse now!) Speaking of zombie...I think this picture of Noelle is hysterical!

To finish up, here are some cute pictures of Noelle. I hope you're having a great week!
